India v England T20 World Cup Images

ICC World Twenty20, 3rd Match, Group A:  England v India at Colombo (RPS), Sep 23, 2012

Brief scores: India 170/4 in 20.0 overs (Rohit Sharma 55*, Gautam Gambhir 45, Steven Finn 2/33) beat England 80/10 in 14.4 overs (Craig Kieswetter 35, Harbhajan Singh 4/12, Piyush Chawla 2/13) by 90 runs

Man-of-the-match: Harbhajan Singh for his match-winning bowling performance that saw him clock figures of 4-2-12-4
Presentation "Yeah it was poor," says Stuart Broad. "All round really. We were okay with 171, but India bowled really well. We weren't as efficient, but we were happy with 171. We played across the line too much. It was worth looking at playing one fewer spinner because we could afford to lose. I don't agree we can't play spin. Certainly in training. We have been learning. We have had a very bad day, but that doesn't affect the rest of the tournament. we get onto the bus, and play out Super 8s. It doesn't change where we go."
"It was an efficient performance," says MS Dhoni. "People might say we were slow for the first 15, but we were not over-aiming. We had five bowlers, we knew that. It was a difficult decision, but we requested the seniors to rest so that we could pick the best XI. And we opened with Irfan because he is a gutsy player. He may not look pretty, but he responds to the call. Now we have got a problem of plenty with spinners with both of them doing well today. About Rohit, it is important if guys are responding to give them a few extra games. Yes, we have got dififcult decisions to make. Not to forget that the players who missed out today have won a lot of games for India on their own."
Harbhajan Singh is back as MoM He says: "It's been a hard year. Being out of the side. Other boys were doing really well, so it was really difficult for me to make a comeback. For me it was an important game. I hadn;t played international cricket for a full year. Getting a wicket first or second ball gives you a lot of confidence. This award is for my mom and those who have stuck with me. In T20 cricket, it's important to just read the game. I have tried to cut down my run-up a bit. I was running in too fast, and struggling to find my areas. So I was consciously coming in off a short run, and slowly. This India short is everything for me. I don;t know what I would do if not playing for India. I would like to thank the Essex people too."

India v Afghanistan T20 World Cup Images

ICC World Twenty20, 3rd Match, Group A: Afghanistan v India at Colombo (RPS), Sep 19, 2012
 India 159/5 (20/20 ov)
Afghanistan 136 (19.3/20 ov)
India won by 23 runs
Nawroz Mangal: "It was a good game for the boys, we could have done better, shot selection was a bit poor, that was why we have lost the game. We could have done better in the field, but we are satisfied we restricted the mighty Indian batting to 160."
MS Dhoni: "This format balances both teams, if one of the opposition batsman or bowler have a great day, it could change the result. A good performance but not a great performance from us. There are a lot of areas we have to improve on to be honest. People talk a lot about five bowlers, but what matters is on the day how they bowl, whether they are a part-timer or a specialist."
Man of the Match is Virat Kohli: "Always good to get a start, good to start on a winning note. Always tough to play against a team with nothing to lose. They were in a situation where they could try a lot of things, we had to be more careful."

CLT20 2012 Teams, Schedule & Broadcasters

CLT20-ChampionsTitans to play Perth Scorchers in Champions League Twenty20 Opener

Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils in Group A, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in Group B

South Africa’s reigning domestic T20 champions will take on Australia’s domestic T20 runners-up, in the opening ‘Group Stage’ game of the Champions League Twenty20 2012.

The Group Stage of the tournament will commence with a double-header at Centurion on 13 October 2012. Titans, the winners of the T20 Challenge in South Africa, will play the Perth Scorchers, runners-up in the Big Bash League. The game will be followed by one between Kolkata Knight Riders, the IPL 2012 champions, and Delhi Daredevils, who finished third in the same tournament.

The final of the Champions League Twenty20 2012 will be played on 28 October 2012, at the Wanderers, Johannesburg, an arena that has hosted some memorable cricket matches in the past, including the final of the ICC CWC 2003, the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 2007, the IPL2, CLT20 2010 and the unforgettable ‘438’ ODI between South Africa and Australia in 2006.

The fourth edition of the Champions League Twenty20 2012 will feature a total of 14 teams and 29 matches across four venues – Centurion, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

Newlands Stadium in Cape Town was recently voted by a panel of experts in the May edition of The Cricketer Magazine as the 2nd best cricket stadium in the world.

The Group Stage will be preceded by a Qualifying Stage from 9 October 2012 to 11 October 2012 featuring six teams. These teams have been equally divided into two pools, with each team playing the other two in its pool once. The top team in each pool, in terms of points, will then qualify for the Group Stage. If teams from the same pool are equal on points, the qualifier will be decided by net run rate.

Pool 1 – ECB 1 (winners of the ECB’s domestic T20 championship), Sialkot Stallions (Pakistan) and Auckland Aces (New Zealand).

Pool 2 – ECB 2 (runners-up in the ECB’s domestic T20 championship), Trinidad and Tobago (West Indies) and the winners of Sri Lanka’s domestic T20 championship.

Group Stage:
The Group Stage will comprise 10 teams divided into two groups of five. Each side will play the other four in their group with the top two teams qualifying for the semi-finals.

Group A Kolkata Knight Riders (India), Titans (South Africa), Perth Scorchers (Australia), Delhi Daredevils (India) and Qualifier 1.

Group B Chennai Super Kings (India), Highveld Lions (South Africa), Sydney Sixers (Australia), Mumbai Indians (India) and Qualifier 2.

“We are delighted to announce the match-schedule of the Champions League Twenty20 2012. This is the second time the tournament will be played in South Africa, and we have no doubt that it will be as, if not more successful, than the 2010 edition. The tournament will feature the world’s top players, and we can be assured of some exceptional cricket,” N. Srinivasan, Chairman of the Champions League Twenty20 Governing Council, said.

The format and match-schedule of the CLT20 2012 are attached.

Information on ticket sales and pricing will be released in the near future.
